Abstract
- The aim of this paper is to examine the static internal pressure and static crash developed in lorry diesel tank. Pressure and crash analysis will be performed by finite element method (FEM). In this paper, a part of the project which aims to develop a computer aided methodology for finding the maximum displacement and stress area of the fuel tanks based on internal pressure and crash load under static condition. The simulation investigation was performed to calculate critical deformation and critical stress value for the fuel tank under critical pressure condition. Finally, it was concluded that the critical deformation value for the fuel tank is 5.2 cm and critical stress value is 620 N/cm2. Further research can be undertaken to improve the safety futures in order to avoid explosion of the fuel tank while it is in crash loading condition.
