Abstract
- Intensity modulated radiotherapy is a technique used in the treatment of cancer based on the use of different spatially distributed X-Ray beams. The task of treatment planning is to determine the dose quantity that each beam of radiation should deliver, and for each spatial direction, and so determining a specific dosage distribution for the patient. In this paper a conditional optimization problem is studied, proposing a new reduction method for the dimensions of this problem. The procedure proposed has been used in the planning of the treatment for a real case of prostate cancer, where satisfactory results have been obtained.
