Examination of the Efficacy of an Injection Technique Support System

We created a self-training assessment support system utilizing a web camera for the self-study of injection techniques. In this study, we tested the effectiveness of utilizing this assessment support system for improving the skills of 19 second-year nursing students. The results showed that being able to objectively observe those techniques requiring correction led to nurses taking their errors seriously. In particular, the results suggested that an assessment support system that can capture blind spots is useful for the self-study of difficult techniques requiring fine hand movements such as injection.
