Abstract
- For most of human history, religion has been closely bound up with the understanding of health and disease. Religions have provided accounts of the origins of health and disease, as well as means for preserving health or restoring it. Although religious traditions around the world differ in the specifics of their understanding of disease, there are broad similarities in their basic views.
