Abstract

Omental torsion is a rare condition in children who present with acute onset of abdominal pain. Ultrasound (US) is the first investigation for children presenting with right lower quadrant abdominal pain to rule out common surgically correctable conditions such as acute appendicitis or ovarian torsion. Ideally, this condition can be recognized by US before going for CT to avoid unnecessary radiation. For those who have negative findings on US and with uncertain etiology, computed tomography (CT) is usually the next investigation. In this paper we sought to illustrate the characteristic imaging features in three children with omental torsion based on radiological diagnosis. All three patients were managed conservatively with complete resolution of symptoms subsequently.
