Abstract
- This article addresses the need for mental health professionals to be alert to the specific psychological and social stressors affecting a large group of survivors of the ongoing AIDS epidemic: HIV-negative gay men. The difficult obstacles to surviving often release severe emotional reactions that at their worst can lead to self-destructive behaviors that put men at risk for contracting HIV. A protocol that integrates group work into existing treatment is described that helps being the delivery services to this often overlooked, traumatized population.
