Abstract

Localization of a target in NLOS condition has been an important research topic in the last decades, especially when the target's signal is received by a stationary receiver, after N-bounce reflections. In this paper, we propose a beacon-based approach to the problem of target localization in N-bounce NLOS condition, assuming unknown reflectors' poses. The approach relies on minimizing the search space and determining a path for the beacon, knowing the location of the beacon, to localize the target. The proposed approach is tested in a mirror space, to localize an object/person through mirrors, using a single camera. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed method. The approach can be extended to other areas such as sound source localization using appropriate model. To the best to our knowledge, this is the first work that solves the target localization issue after multiple reflections, by using a single fixed receiver and one moving beacon.
