Abstract

Five species of Pauropoda belonging to four genera have been identified from New Zealand. The genus Samarangopus is reported from there for the first time. Four new species are described by the first author: one in Pauropodidae, Decapauropus whanganuiensis n. sp., two in Eurypauropodidae, Samarangopus plicatus n. sp. and S. constellatus n. sp., and one in a new family, Eirmopauropodidae, Eirmopauropus distichos n. gen., n. sp. The new family Eirmopauropodidae is diagnosed as having head and pygidium free, not covered by 1st and 6th tergite respectively; head and tergites sclerotised with setae in regular transversal rows.
