Abstract

Electromagnetic energy can be harvested in the ISM unlicensed band from various ambient source in particular from mobile radio transmitters, Wi-Fi networks, wireless devices. This paper introduces the design and development of a simple rectenna based on a coplanar waveguide (CPW) configuration for operating at the 2.45 GHz ISM band. The rectifier is composed of a one-stage voltage doubler circuit arranged with an inductive input matching network. The antenna is a trapezoidal dipole antenna with a realized gain more than 6 dBi. To build the rectenna, both the rectifier and antenna were simply integrated on single layer FR4 substrate. In order to look insight the circuit performance, the measured and simulated results were demonstrated and the parameters of interest were compared. The rectenna provides a maximum conversion efficiency of 69% at input power 5 dBm, terminal load $2 \mathrm{k}\Omega$ , and driven input frequency of 2.45 GHz. Different experimental constraints were investigated to show the exact circuit response in comparison with the simulation.
