Abstract

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a graphical representation of the electrical activity of the heart. It is an important tool in the care of many patients with potential cardiovascular disease. Learning ECG interpretation logically starts with knowing the normal ECG and its normal variants. The cardiovascular system changes, like most biological systems do as the child grows towards adulthood. This chapter reviews the normal behavior of electrical changes throughout the cardiac cycle and the expected normal ECG findings of various ages as well as the variants of normal ECG.
