Abstract
- In this paper, we design semantic based routing algorithms for IoT service discovery. First, we consider the model for describing the IoT services and the corresponding discovery queries so that service lookup can be performed effectively. Second, we consider the limited memory space of many IoT devices and introduce our summarization algorithm for routing information compression to make sure that the routing table at each node can satisfy the space limit imposed by the node without needing to throw away useful routing information. Third, we develop a novel two-level coding mechanism to effectively code IoT service capabilities to enable summarization and further reduce routing table size. We experimentally compare various coding approaches and the results show that our scheme requires less memory and imposes lower volume of network traffic compared to existing approaches.
