Abstract
- In 2010, we published an initial evaluation of a multiplex PCR for the detection of herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1, HSV-2 and Treponema pallidum in patients with genital ulcer disease.1 This study indicated that the assay would improve our ability to detect primary syphilis with little detrimental impact on overall service costs and turnaround time (TRT).
