Élasticité des anticipations et instabilité de l’équilibre général chez Hicks, Lange, Modigliani et Patinkin

Dans le sillage de Valeur et capital, publié par John R. Hicks en 1939, Oskar Lange et Don Patinkin ont interprété le chapitre 19 de la Théorie générale comme relevant de la question de la stabilité de l’équilibre général. Cette étude s’intéresse à la façon dont chacun a traité la question des anticipations dans ce contexte. Elle soutient que Valeur et capital contient un programme de recherche d’abord détourné par Lange puis rejeté par Patinkin mais aussi par Franco Modigliani.
Inspired by Value and Capital, published by John R. Hicks in 1939, Oskar Lange and Don Patinkin interpreted chapter 19 of the General Theory as raising the issue of the stability of a general equilibrium. This paper studies the way these three economists and Franco Modigliani analyzed the role of expectations in this context. It argues that Value and Capital contained a research program first distorted by Lange then rejected by Patinkin and Modigliani.
