Back-angle production of light ions from 720-MeVα-nucleus collisions

The experimental production of p, d, t, /sup 3/He, and /sup 4/He particles at 150/sup 0/ from 720-MeV ..cap alpha.. bombardment of Al, Ag, and Ta nuclei are shown to agree with Frankel's phenomenological ''quasi-two-body-scaling'' formalism. However, we show our data to also be qualitatively consistent with multiple-scattering, thermodynamic models. More theoretical work is needed, especially to understand composite-particle production.
