Abstract
- Normal bladder function, comprising alternate storage and voiding phases, is a complex phenomenon, the cornerstones of which include (a) structural integrity of bladder, urethra and surrounding structures and (b) Intact neural pathways of the peripheral and central nervous systems. In this chapter, we shall elaborate upon the central neural circuits, the role of autonomic and somatic pathways, the micturition reflex and the physiological voiding patterns seen in women.
