Abstract

Metal roof sheathing is an important part of large-span steel structures such as airport terminals and exhibition centers. It has excellent structural performance and gorgeous appearance. However, due to working in the complex weather environment all the year round, metal roof will produce deformation, leakage, wind-lift and other damages, which cause serious economic losses and even casualties. Conventionally, the health monitoring of metal roofs mainly relies on manual inspection, which unavoidably compromises the working efficiency and cannot perceive and predict possible failures in time. Thus, this paper analyzed the causes of metal roof failure and established a real-time metal roof health monitoring system (MRHMS). Furthermore, a health evaluation method of metal roof was proposed based on analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (AHP-FCE), which was initially applied to the actual roof health monitoring system.
