Abstract
- The problem of light ion reflection from solids is solved basing on the invariant imbedding method of Ambartsumyan. Justification is given to a linearization procedure which enables one to obtain an equation for the reflection function that can be solved analytically. A solution in the form of a series in Legendre polynomials has been obtained for the case of normal incidence of ions on the target. In the case of reflection through glancing angles, in addition to the solution in the form of a series in zeroth-order Bessel functions, we have obtained a simple analytical formula. An approximation expression is presented which describes particle scattering for all incidence and reflection angles. The satisfactory agreement between the calculation results and experimental data shows that the theory developed gives an adequate description to the light ion scattering process.
