Abstract

A CAMAC branch driver conceived for use with a Laben 70 computer has been developed for a CAMAC system containing up to 7 crates. A particular interface is directly inserted into the computer and allows the dialogue with it. The branch driver can perform all the operations requested by the CAMAC standard and in addition has some special features such as: (a) Executive mode for operating a direct link between modules via crate controllers and branch highway. (b) Address scan for an unknown number of data where the end of scan is automatically given when the last module comprised in the scan is reached and there is a Q = 0. (c) Peculiar handling of LAM (look-at-me) signals in addition to the normal BD (branch demand). It can use three direct LAM's which can find direct subroutines associated to them or an optional module called “Interrupt Vector Generator” which can manage directly 28 subroutines corresponding to 28 individual LAM's.
