A design of electron gun and PPM focusing system for 108GHz TWTs

Abstract: This paper describes a particular design of a Pierce gun and a compact PPM focusing system for 108GHz serpentine TWT applications. Design strategies are proposed by providing closed formulas and dimensioning techniques. The influence of focusing electrode dimension has been presented in gun structure design. The optimum value of magnetic induction has been discussed in PPM structure design. Using this design, a well focused electron beam can be obtained.
