System integration of hybrid powertrains

The integration of electrical drive components into hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) poses big challenges to the system integration of all components involved. Hybrid functions require new information structures with additional dependencies and interactions. This Continental Automotive Systems article describes the new structures, shows the interfaces between the components and presents a hybrid drive controller as core of a hierarchical networking.
