Abstract
- 1. A feasibility study has been carried out for the utilization, in carbon black production, of the heavy tars obtained in existing USSR ethylene units operating on naphtha, gaseous hydrocarbons, or mixed feedstocks. 2. The heavy-tar yield amounts to 3 to 5% of pyrolysis feedstock weight. 3. In the majority of cases, the heavy tar now being produced will satisfy the requirements imposed on the quality of prospective raw materials for carbon black production.
