Abstract
- Several theoretical developmental models, such as Bronfenbrenner ecological approach and Super and Harkness concept of “developmental niche” highlight the influence of caretakers on children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. Direct influence occurs through shared genetics, parenting style, and behaviors, while cultural and social values have an indirect impact. To fully understand the child’s psychological adjustment, one should take into account significant contexts, such as the family and the interactions between exogenous and endogenous factors.
