Abstract
- The rate at which 4-methyl-1-pentene polymerizes in the presence of the catalyst system γ-TiCl3/AlEt2Cl is greatly enhanced by hydrogen. In bulk experiments under nitrogen, the catalyst loses its activity via a first-order reaction; in a hydrogen atmosphere, a second-order decline is observed. A mechanism is proposed.
