Maximum Torque per Ampere Control with Inductance and Field Current Estimation for Wound-Rotor Synchronous Starter/Generator

Abstract
- The machine's parameter changes due to the working condition. While inaccurate parameters can lead to abnormal control performance of the electrical machine. This paper proposes an online inductance and field current estimation method combining the Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) Control Strategy for the three-stage wound-rotor synchronous rotor/generator (WRSSG). By using the extended Kalman filter (EKF), the instantaneous inductance and field current are estimated, and then used in the MTPA calculation. The mathematical equations are established for analyzing the dynamic response of these parameters. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of this method.
