Abstract
- In this treatise we compare the picture of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor that one had at the time of the first Camerino meeting held in 1978 with the picture that we have nowadays. We summarise the knowledge that we have accumulated with regard to the receptor's three functional moieties, namely the receiving part (ligand-binding domain), the effector part (ion channel) and the transducer (the mechanism coupling the receiver to the effector).
