Abstract

The influence of solid and chemical effects on photo-induced x-ray transitions from the valence states was investigated by means of high-resolution x-ray diffractometry. The study was devoted to metallic Mo and , and compounds. A significant enhancement of the emission rate of the 4d - 1s and 4d - 2s quadrupole-allowed transitions was found for the targets studied. The change of the transition probability is interpreted as being due to the mixing of the 4d states with p character orbitals.
