Orthopaedics Biomechanics in Sports Medicine Thrower’s Elbow

Sports that entail repeated throwing movements expose the elbow joint to significant forces which, over time, can cause the onset of pathological alterations and injuries. In this context, upper limbs bony joints, ligaments, and muscles act as stabilizers supporting elbow resistance to the valgus stress of throwing. Accurate knowledge of elbow anatomy and biomechanics is required to understand the mechanism of development of throwers’ diseases, make the right diagnosis, and choose the proper treatment.
