Coordinated control between DGs and DSTATCOM: Impact of communication node failure

Abstract

An innovative control method for 1-phase DSTATCOM incorporating communication network is discussed in this paper to obtain the coordinated control between the Distributed Generators and Compensators. The methodology is intended for micro grid supplying loads with feeders traversed physically distant apart from each other. The anticipated reactive compensation is constructed on confined measurement and the transmitted power through the cables. It ensures that the discussed approach minimizes the voltage level more efficiently while sustaining the voltage control even after a high-level dissemination of the DGs. The MATLAB simulations carried over thearbitary network confirm the DSTATCOM outstanding performances with different operating situations like utility side, mid of the feeder and end of the feeder. The impact of communication node breakdown is analyzed at various nodes and the significance of communication in loop control is validated through an arbitrary 5-bus system.
