A simple technique for the calibration of long-wave radiation probes

A simple technique for the long-wave calibration of net and one-way radiation probes is described. The materials required for the operation are inexpensive and easily assembled. An error analysis indicates that calibrations accurate to ± 3% may be routinely achieved. Calibrations of several Fritschen-type net radiometers obtained by this technique and by a chamber technique agreed to within better than ± 3%.
