Abstract

As many drugs and pathological conditions affect the composition and dynamics of the CSF, lumbar puncture is increasingly becoming an important tool for the clinician for the diagnosis and treatment of specific disease processes. Table 6-1 summarises the effects of various neurological illnesses on some CSF findings. In this chapter we will examine more in depth the many diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities of the CSF.
