Abstract

28th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 3069-3072<br />In this work we show that deeply textured glass covers can solve an important issue which is the risk of glare due to sunlight reflection on PV modules. We introduce a quantitative measure of glare as the luminance value in the brightest direction and we observe that SGGAlbarino P glass covers allow a reduction of more than 2 orders of magnitude compared to reference smoothly textured cover glasses, from more than one million cd/m² to less than ten thousand cd/m². The physical explanation of this extremely efficient anti-glare property of SGGAlbarino P is to be found in its surface topography which shows both a very broad slope distribution and a randomized aspect.
