Electron transmission in one-dimensional crystals with interfaces

An analysis is made of the transmission coefficient for electrons at a sharp interface separating two periodic one-dimensional potentials. Numerical results are presented for the case that the cell potentials are square wells. The transmission coefficient is sensitive to the position of the interface relative to the cells in the two crystals. Results are also presented for two interfaces (a barrier).
