Abstract

A computer-controlled system has been developed to generate isometric recruitment data for nerve and muscle electrodes. Peak twitch tension is monitored over the range from threshold to maximal stimulation. Either pulse amplitude or duration can be selected as the variable stimulus parameter. The system uses three key subroutines: one to measure maximum twitch tension, a second to determine the appropriate points at which tension should be measured, and a third to generate the estimated recruitment curve. >
