Abstract
- Thoracic aortic aneurysms are present in the majority of patients with Aneurysms-Osteoarthritis syndrome (AOS). Although these aneurysms are generally asymptomatic, the consequences can be catastrophic when an acute aortic dissection or rupture occurs. Elective valve-sparing aortic root replacement can be performed to prevent aortic events, but every operation has the risk of procedural complications. This subchapter discusses the indications, outcome, and recommendations for elective valve-sparing aortic root replacement in patients with AOS.
