Abstract
- A method developed to measure the degradation of neutron detectors in neutron and gamma fields has been applied to five models of boron trifluoride (BF/sub 3/) detectors from major suppliers, and to a special helium (/sup 3/He) detector model. The detectors tested all have about the same nominal neutron sensitivity and overall dimensions. The showed widely different neutron and gamma durability for BF/sub 3/ models, an undesirable time-dependent gamma degradation followed by recovery for some BF/sub 3/, models, and very robust performance of the modified /sup 3/He detector.
