Abstract
- In this survey of union membership in the twentieth century, principal attention is paid to the white-collar component of the labor force. White-collar jobs have been increasing at a much more rapid rate than have manual jobs, a trend which promises to continue into the future. It is in this area that the greatest potential for future union organization exists, yet it is here that unions have experienced the least success in attracting members.
