Abstract

Most of the injuries observed in runners are related to overuse. Running-related injuries (RRIs) predominantly occur below the knee. Previous injury is an important risk factor for RRIs. Despite the great interest in the scientific and clinical communities to understand how gender, running biomechanics, training characteristics, and type of shoes can influence the rate of RRIs, it is very difficult to find consistent evidence to support these ideas.
