Abstract
- The steam distilled leaf oil of the two species of Melicope (M. contermina and M. polybotrya) indigenous to Lord Howe Island have been examined by GC and GC/MS. Melicope contermina gave an oil in which the major components were limonene (33%) and elemol (23%). The oil yield was 0.1%. Melicope polybotrya gave a leaf oil in which the major components were geijerene (41%), pregeijerene (38%) and limonene (9%). The oil yield in this case was 0.6–1% based on fresh leaves.
