Abstract: An oxidative coupling strategy involving hypervalent organoiodine-inducedoxidative dearomatization of 4-substituted phenols, Bronstedacid catalyzed Michael addition with indoles, and aromatizationhas been developed. The one-pot reaction provides an efficient accessto the META-indole-substituted phenolderivatives.
