Abstract

The authors present classical computations for V to T energy transfer of highly vibrationally excited Morse diatomics in Cinfinity collisions with atoms, assuming a pure exponential interaction. Phase-averaged energy transfer over a wide range of mass distributions and initial energies have been obtained. Effects of 'excluded' phase angles, 'double' impacts and vibrational enhancement of inhibition on de-activational efficiency were studied. Some new analytical results are also presented.
