Abstract
- GIS provides an enormous amount of support in overseeing and researching spatial details. GIS has been successfully extended to a wide variety of science and technology fields to sort compile and compare related parameters and achieve appropriate data. One such area is the detection and prevention of disasters. In specific, GIS is more appropriate when used for remote sensing (RS) data and information and has been used around the world to identify hazard zones. Remote sensing, in conjunction with GIS, collecting information, provides real-time modeling of events and prevailing circumstances. The ability to accurately evaluate various danger zones and associated causes distributed through broad territories and locations that are geographically difficult to access can be quickly detected and to take precautions to prevent any catastrophic incident or catastrophe. In the present analysis, the study area includes Madan Pura, some 15 km in North–West of Fatehpur Sikri, Agra in Vindhyan Hills of Late Proterozoic (1400–900 My). The small study area covered in our study lies in between 27°5′30″–27°5′35″ latitudes and 77°36′30″–77°36′40″ longitudes, numerous thematic maps prepared by GIS software using inverse distance weight (IDW) method suggesting that this region is vulnerable to landslide, such thematic maps which be used for preliminary assessment in the demarcation of landslide-affected areas. Local-level mining still goes on using some crude methods which have created steep and loose slopes on hills and have made it vulnerable to rockfall and toppling failures. The thick deposits of Aeolian Sand can be seen on the northwest flanks of the hills, which too are subjected to mining for “sand” and creating deep pits along the hill slope, making the problem worse.
