Abstract
- This paper describes a new approach to designing performance analysis tools for parallel processing systems. A primary contribution of this work is to explore the way in which application source code structure can be incorporated into an interactive, programmable event trace analyzer. Event histories are organized as a temporal, relational data base. The user interface is based on a simple two dimensional spreadsheet metaphor that provides a direct and flexible view of the data base and also provides a simple but powerful interactive graphics facility.
