Abstract
- Introduction. At present, at perinatal medicine, the monitoring has significant role. It is a main instrument for baby care. The use of supervision methods such as biophysical profile of foetus or modified biophysical profile, cardiotocography and ultrasound are standard proceedings on obstetrical units, leading to mothers, foetus and infants safety increase. Aim. The aim of this project is to show relations between incorrect biophysical profile of a foetus and an infant's condition after delivery. Material and methods. The analysis of live births from 1st January 2006 to 31st December 2008 in Gynaecological/Obstetric Clinic of CZMP Institute in Łódź, analysis of women’s giving birth at least in 30 week documents, 1000 infants and their 934 mothers, so it gave the group of 1934 people. Statistical calculations: Test Chi2, Student’s t test and the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results. In group of infants with incorrect biophysical profile avarage parameters were: weigh 2227 g, Apgar score 7.53, hospitalisation time 13.29 days, Caesarean section 68%, and 72% of examinated infants were treated in Neonatology Clinic. Conclusions. 1. Infants with incorrect biophysical profile parameters in comparison with the group of infants with correct biophysical profile have lower body mass (p = 0.01129 < 0.05; Rp = ~5% wan), lower Apgar score (p = 0.0490 < 0.05; Rp = ~3% wan) and longer hospitalisation time (p = 0.0002 < 0.05; Rp = ~26% mild). 2. An incorrect biophysical profile often indicates Caesarian section or forceps delivery (Rp = ~10% wan) and binds to necessity of newborn’s treatment in Neonatology Clinic (Rp = ~27% mild).
