Abstract

Analyses the anisotropic properties of Sahelian vegetation as seen by POLDER in the framework of the 1992 HAPEX-Sahel experiment. The backscattering effect is the main perturbation of the surface albedo measurement. A model is used to firstly correct this effect and further generates reflectance data sets in Sun-view geometries where relationships have been established between vegetation indices and land-surface key-parameters such as the fraction of vegetation, the LAI and the f/sub APAR/.
