Abstract

Single-sheet bipolar membranes have been prepared by grafting of styrene into radiation peroxidized LDPE films, which were then chlorosulfonated from one side, chloromethylated and quaternized from the other side. Various monomer systems were investigated and optimized. Obtained bipolar membranes were characterized by their specific electrical resistance, static potentials, rectification properties and water splitting capabilities.
