Abstract

It is known since more than thirty years that ionising radiations induce a signal in the Electron Spin Resonance spectrum of bones (Gordy et al. 1955). The stability of this signal at ambiant temperatures allowed applications to calcified tissue research (Ostrowski et al. 1980), nuclear bomb and accident dosimetry (Ikeya et al. 1984, Ikeya and Ishii 1989), geological dating (Ikeya 1988, Poupeau and Rossi 1989) as well as the detection and dosimetry of ionised foodstuffs (Dodd et al. 1985).
