Effective Method of Burning Power-Grade Plutonium in VVER

Abstract

A variant of a fuel load for burning power-grade plutonium in VVER is examined. Using power-grade plutonium in fuel elements without the raw isotope makes it possible to increase its power potential almost 1.5-fold compared with the conventional mixed fuel and eliminates the need for repeated processing of the spent fuel obtained when plutonium is burned.
