Study of the moire of two gratings without contact illuminated by a spatially partially coherent field

Presents an analysis of the moire fringe self images of two gratings of slightly different spatial periods. The illuminating field is spatially partially coherent and homogeneous. The existence is shown of critical coherence field structures which reduce the visibility of the fringes when self imaging conditions are satisfied.
