Abstract

The Kraus-Weber test of minimum muscular fitness was administered to 38 trainable mentally retarded (TMR) children. The results revealed that: The TMR group was seriously deficient in muscular fitness when compared with four groups of normal children; the TMR group was not necessarily retarded in flexibility when compared with four groups of normal children; the TMR girls tended to be more muscularly fit and more flexible than the boys; the lower back test item caused the greatest percentage of failure for the TMR group; 63.3 percent of the 30 failures were multiple; there was no difference between the TMR boys' and girls' multiple failures.
