Linear and nonlinear response in computer simulation experiments

Computer simulation experiments on transport properties using perturbation of mechanical trajectories are critically discussed in the light of Van Kampen's “case against linear response theory” and of the numerical experiments in the nonlinear region of Visscher, and more recently of Evans.
